For the personal information described in this policy, we are the data controller. This policy covers the website at starsource.uk. Where one of our software products handles personal information differently, that product will have its own privacy information.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

If you use our contact form, we collect the name, email address, subject and message you submit. We ask for these because we cannot answer an enquiry without knowing what it is and where to send the reply.

Technical information

Like most websites, our web server records technical information about requests it receives. This typically includes the IP address the request came from, the date and time, the page requested, the HTTP status returned, and the browser user-agent string. These records are produced automatically by the server software and are used for security and for diagnosing faults.

When a contact form is submitted, we also record the time of submission and the originating IP address, so that we can limit automated abuse of the form.

Cookies

This website does not set advertising, profiling or tracking cookies, and it does not use third-party advertising networks. If we introduce cookies that are not strictly necessary for the site to function, we will ask for your consent first and update this policy.

Analytics

We do not currently run a third-party analytics service on this website. If that changes, we will name the provider in this policy before it is enabled.

Third-party content

This website loads its web fonts from Google Fonts. When your browser requests those font files, your IP address and user-agent are visible to that provider as part of the request. No other personal information is shared with them by us, and the fonts are not used to identify you.

  • Server logs: kept for a short operational period, normally not more than 12 months, and then deleted or overwritten.
  • Abuse-prevention records for the contact form: kept for a matter of hours.

When information is no longer needed for the purpose it was collected for, we delete it.

6. Security

This website is served over an encrypted connection. Access to systems holding correspondence is restricted to people who need it, and our infrastructure is kept updated as part of routine maintenance. More detail on our practices is on our Security page.

No system can be guaranteed completely secure. If a personal data breach occurs that is likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify the Information Commissioner’s Office and, where required, the people affected.

7. Sharing and third parties

We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only where necessary:

  • With service providers who host our infrastructure or deliver email on our behalf, acting on our instructions under a written agreement.
  • Where we are required to do so by law, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

We name specific processors here only where we actually use them. We will update this section before adding any new processor that handles personal information from this website.

8. International transfers

We operate remotely and serve international markets, so information may be processed outside the United Kingdom. Where personal information is transferred outside the UK, we take steps to ensure it remains protected to a standard consistent with UK data protection law, using an adequacy decision or appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
